Key points of interest in South Milford, North Yorkshire, England. ‘Milford’ literally means 'ford at the mill', and could have been a mill site alluded to in the Domesday Book. This was where the Roman road to the market town of Tadcaster forded the Mill Dike stream. The ‘South’ distinguishes the town from North Milford.
