I Have Seen the Lord John 20:1-18 Jesus is Risen! Today we worship Jesus who rose from the dead, and get to see how people like Mary Magdalene, John, and Peter first saw and believed that Jesus was actually raised from the dead. Because He lives, our salvation is true and we too will one day live forever. Let's think about it: Outline: 1. Believing in the resurrection 2. Hope in the midst of sorrow 3. The peace of the risen Christ given to you Verse: Matthew 28:5-6 “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. 6 He is not here, for he has risen, as he said. Questions for devotions and family worship: 1. What do we learn from John 20:1-10 about Jesus' resurrection? Why might John have included the details about the linen cloths that were used to wrap Jesus' body? 2. Mary Magdalene has a prominent place in the accounts of Jesus' resurrection. She was likely one of Jesus' followers from the earliest moments, a woman who had been healed of demon possession. Why is it significant that she is the first person to whom Jesus appears? How does her response to Jesus help us think about our own relationship to him? 3. It is hard to imagine the moment when Jesus appeared to his disciples in the room that night (vv. 19-23). Twice he declared peace to them, which was a traditional greeting, but that night meant something new. How does the resurrection of Jesus mean peace for us?
