Fraudulent Faith James 2:14-26 Summary: The great truth of being a Christian is that we are not saved by what we do, but by what Jesus has done for us. Jesus lived the life we should have lived, and he died the death we deserved to die. Because of what Jesus has done we have assurance that God loves us and one day we will be with him in heaven forever. But this does not mean that our obedience to God no longer matters anymore. In fact, what God is teaching us today is that those who have truly been saved by Christ will necessarily show that salvation by living in obedience to God’s commands. If someone says they love Jesus, but have no desire to be with Jesus, to be with his people, or obey his commandments, then it probably means they do not really love Jesus after all. Outline: 1. Counterfeit Faith exposed 2. Genuine Faith examined Verse: James 2:17 So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead
