John 12:37-43 Blind Unbelief and Secret Faith Summary: It is sad when people reject Jesus. As the apostle John saw Jesus' ministry and believed in him, he also saw many reject His Lord. An urgent call to walk in the light Verse: John 12:46 I have come into the world as light, so that whoever believes in me may not remain in darkness. Questions for devotions and family worship: 1. This is a difficult passage, explaining what happens when people persist in unbelief, even though they had seen Jesus' many signs. Why does John quote from Isaiah 53 and Isaiah 6 to explain it? 2. It is important to see that God's actions of blinding and hardening (v. 40) are judicial actions that are a result of people's persistent rejection of Jesus. Why is this important? 3. Many religious leaders in Jesus' day believed in him, but kept it secret. Why did they do so? How could that challenge our faith today?
